SWARM and Gojo Residency

An Intimate Session with Contemporary Nights Collective (Ethiopia)

A second iteration of a residential program catalyzed in 2020 through African Crossroads. This year theme focuses on “social bodies” understanding the cosmological fabric of Addis Abeban society, locating the identity and practices of 5 resident artists within the contemporary ecosystem, and garnering the courage and solidarity to make art in resistance. GOJO 2.0 is an in-situ project that facilitates the agency of artists to interject and let their practices act as glitches interrupting the modus operandi of the current intersecting oppressive systems. The project draws inspiration from artists and writers that have positioned the fight for climate justice alongside questions of feminism and decoloniality.
